With the Infrared / Sound / Touch (IST) Switch, users can operate a variety of communication devices and software with virtually any kind of body motion; even the blink of an eye.
Using sensors, the IST Switch provides positive, consistent action with all body movements and features a convenient sensitivity adjustment that lets you set the switch for the body site to be used.

The IST switch comes with your choice of one sensor. You can also add optional additional sensors, or choose the Value Pack and save money when you order all three sensors with your switch.
Touch Sensor
The Touch Sensor uses a small metal button to detect skin contact. The slightest touch using any part of the body can be detected, so no force is required to activate the switch.
Sound Sensor
The Sound Sensor uses a miniature microphone to detect sounds ranging from a loud voice to slightly sharp breaths from the mouth or nose. Voice sounds are detected with a microphone sensor supported against the user’s neck or positioned in front of the mouth. When used as a breath switch, the sensor is positioned in front of the nose or mouth. The sensitivity is fully adjustable to filter out normal breathing noises, background room noises, or someone speaking nearby.
Infrared Sensor
The Infrared Sensor operates by emitting a very low-powered infrared beam. When a surface in front of the beam reflects enough of the light back to the receiver, the IST closes a relay, which acts as a switch. The surface of virtually any body site can activate the switch by coming close to the sensor or by coming into the field of view of the sensor from the side, thereby reflecting more light. The switch also responds to the difference in reflection between the open eyelid and the closed eyelid or between the white of the eye and the iris. This enables users who cannot blink to use the IST as an eye-movement switch.
Power supply
IST switch operates on a 9 volt battery. An optional 110 volt AC adapter is available. AC adapter for IST is standard.
